We have two days to discover the remarkable wines and site diversity of the Alsace region.
With a multiple and sometimes inextricable complexity, of "terroirs" and vintages yielding a different wine, Alsatian production is sometimes difficult to apprehend. Some wines are light, fluid and graceful while some others are sumptuous, concentrated and grand. The wineries we will visit are considered among the best by their peers and wine critics alike. After
a morning drive from Arbois, our first stop is the Cave
Vinicole de Ribeauville. The oldest French wine
"cooperative", produces remarkable Cremant, many different
Gewurtztraminer, A lunch at the winery's restaurant will allow you to match wines and food. For an afternoon digestive walk, we will visit the Haut Koenigsbourg castle, a beautiful example of medieval Saxon architecture.
Two nights in Strasbourg at "The Maison Rouge", a 3* located in the hearth of this very active town, siege of the European Counsel. The city of Strasbourg, charming, active, and not well known enough, is a very good surprise for many visitors. Dinner in a local Alsatian winstub. B - L - D |
