DAY (6) Friday


Chinon fortress

Departure is set at 10:00. For those of you who do not wish to use this late start for extra sleep, a guided walk in the old Chinon and a quick visit to the chateau is scheduled at 8:15. 

Today will start and finish with the most representatives red wines of the region, keeping the whites for tomorrow.

Before our daily drinking, we will visit "la Deviniere", house of to the best "public relation" of the region and its wines, Francois Rabelais (1494-1553). 

The welcoming family de Bonnaventure, working the same land since the 13 century will present us their production (following biodynamic techniques) in their domain, the Chateau de Coulaine.

After lunch: Chateau d'Usse for a brief stop. This castle is still occupied by its owner's since it was built in the XV century; its exceptional and imposing presence inspired Perrault for his "Sleeping Beauty" novel. 

Last castle of the day: Azay-le-Rideau, the most romantic and harmonious of the region.

Back in Chinon for a tasting of Couly-Dutheil consistently producing high quality Chinon.
