DAY 1 | MONDAY, SEP 3 2018

From CDG or Paris you can board a TGV to Tours, capital of Touraine region Where your tour director will welcome you. After a light lunch you will have time to refresh at our hotel, take a nap if you wish or explore your surroundings.

Your home for 3 nights will the Chateau de Marcay**** a beautiful medieval castle surrounded by vineyards or Le Manoir des Minimes****, a lovely property at the foot of the Royal castle of Amboise

Welcome dinner with Chinon wines of course. 

DAY 2 | TUESDAY, SEP 4 2018

Our first morning visit will be for the castle of Azay-le-Rideau the most romantic and harmonious of the region. After lunch we plan a brief stop by the Chateau d'Usse, still occupied by its owner's since it was built in the XV century. Its exceptional and imposing presence inspired Perrault to write "Sleeping Beauty". Our next visit is the Chateau de Villandry. The gardens are a "must see", in the spring, summer, fall or even winter. Back in Chinon, the welcoming family de Bonnaventure working the same land since the 13th-century will present us the production of their domain, the Chateau de Coulaine.

DAY 3 | WEDNESDAY, SEP 5 2018-

En route for one of the most famous castles of the region, Chenonceau. Built, owned and cared for by women during its entire history, this spectacular castle has an obvious feminine charm and beauty. You will have lunch at the Chateau de Chaumont and then a walk the "Festival de Jardin" an annual display of creative and unusual gardens in this beautiful setting. Last stop is the small city of Amboise, home of the oldest "royal castle" (King's property) of the region. Built in the 1400's, it introduced the Italian Renaissance style into the Loire valley. The great Leonardo de Vinci spent his lasts years there as Francois 1er mentor and is buried in the garden.

Farewell dinner at our hotel excellent table. Last night in the region.

DAY 4 | THURSDAY, SEP 6 2018

After a stop by the castle of Saumur built in the 14th-century by the Duke of Anjou which towers above the old city and the Loire River we will spend some time at the beautiful 11th-century Abbey of Fontevraud to resuscitate Alienor d'Aquitaine, twice Queen (France then England) and mother of two kings. Alienor's life is a fascinating story set in the 12th-century. Largest for last, the majestic Chambord castle. This impressive chateau was build by Francois 1st in the early 1500 more to impress his foreign visitors than to occupy it, finished after his death; although he visited his masterpiece to hunt in the surrounding forest.

Back to Tours late afternoon to board a direct 1 hour train to Paris.
