Plan to land in Nice, France the next day either late morning or early afternoon depending on your flight.
Before we begin our France: Provence to Cotes du Rhone Tour, you will have some time to refresh at your hotel. In the afternoon we will visit Monaco briefly and a stop by the medieval village of Éze which clings to the rock 1,000 feet above the Mediterranean, before driving back along the coast.
Welcome dinner in Old Nice before an excellent first night at the four-star Hotel la Perouse.
DAY 2 | EXPLORE ANTIBES, CANNES, BIOT, AND SAINT-PAUL-DE-VENCE
A Morning drive along the coast will bring us to Antibes, home of the Picasso museum, and Cannes before stopping at the village of Biot, well known for its glass blowing artisans. Lunch in a village. The day will end in the village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, home of Soutine, Chagall, Leger, Calder, and many other artists.
Dinner on your own, second night in Nice.

DAY 3 | AIX-EN-PROVENCE AND FONTAINE DE VAUCLUSE
On the way to our next residence, we will stop for a guided visit of Aix-en-Provence the city with “1000 fountains” and a rich past. With 140 classified historical sites, Aix is second only to Paris.
We will arrive in Fontaine de Vaucluse with enough time for you to walk from the hotel to the famous resurgence of the Sorgue River which gave its name to the village.
Dinner in the village and first of two nights at the Hotel le Poete.

DAY 4 | THE LUBERON VALLEY
We will spend the day in the Luberon region where we will see magnificent landscapes, the Abbey of Senanque, the villages of Oppede-le-Vieux, Lacoste (the infamous castle of Marquis of Sade), the ochre colors of Roussillon.
Dinner on your own and last night at Hotel le Poete.

DAY 5 | COTE DU RHONE TO AVIGNON
A wine and Roman day! The fantastic southern Cote du Rhone wines of Gigondas, Rasteau, and Vaqueyras to start, followed by a guided visit of the Roman Theatre in Orange and lunch at the foot of the ruined castle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
The spectacular vineyards of Mont-Redon and a sampling of its production will build up our appetite for this evening.
Group dinner in Avignon and first night at the hotel Mercure Pont d’Avignon in the walled “City of the Popes”.

DAY 6 | UZES AND AVIGNON
In the morning visit the old town of Uzes for a wonderful Provencal market before the a guided visit to the spectacular Pont du Gard, a perfectly preserved Roman aqueduct. Then back to Avignon for a guided visit to the Palace of the Popes.
Dinner on your own and second night in Avignon.

DAY 7 | SAINT REMY, LES BAUX, ARLES LA ROMAINE, AND CAMARGUE
Early morning drive to Les Baux for a what is always a wonderful and spectacular surprise for visitors “les Carrières de Lumieres”.
A historian will guide us through the streets of “Arles la Romaine”.
If time and weather permit we will quickly discover the Camargue, marshy land of black bulls, white horses and “French Cow Boys”, the guardians.
Group dinner and last night in Avignon.

DAY 8 | AVIGNON TO LYON
Driving North along the Rhone River we will stop by Tain l’Hermitage for a crash course on chocolate manufacturing followed by a multi tasting at the Valhrona factory.
Another kind of multi tasting of Hermitage and Crozes at Fayolle or Chapoutier will follow. Lunch on the road.
Farewell group dinner with the local beverage, Beaujolais of course, and stay in Lyon at the four-star Hotel Carlton.

DAY 9 | LYON, FRANCE
A guide will open for us some of the famous hidden passages called “traboules” of the Old Lyon. Lunch on your own.
An option for wine aficionados is to spend the afternoon at Saint Joseph, Cote Rotie, Guigal Condrieu or Francois Villard, all excellent wineries.
Dinner on your own and last night in Lyon.
DAY 10 | DEPART LYON, FRANCE
After breakfast you will depart Lyon and land at home with lovely memories of your travels through France from Provence to Cotes du Rhone.
